Setting up eduroam on Android
ℹ️Note: This guide was created using Android version 14. Other versions may differ, but the differences should generally be minimal.
📲Download the Android app “geteduroam.”
➡️To do this, open the Google Play Store and search for “geteduroam.” The first result should be the correct app. Download and install the app.
ℹ️Note: There is also a QR code at the Campus IT HelpDesk that takes you directly to the app download. This way, you can make sure that you are definitely downloading the correct app.
➡️Once you have downloaded the app, open it. You will then be asked to enter the name of your university. Enter “Hochschule Bochum” and select it from the list. This will ensure that you receive the correct settings and can enter the required information.
☑️In the upper field, enter your Hochschul username followed by “@hs-bochum.de”.
ℹ️This is essential to avoid error messages, even if you have entered everything correctly.
☑️In the lower field, enter your initial password.
ℹ️For students, this is the same password you use for Moodle. For employees, use the password you use to log in to internal
Hochschul
systems.
➡️Once you have entered your details correctly and the app does not display any errors, you will be asked to save the “eduroam” Wi-Fi network on your phone. Tap “Save” to automatically connect to the “eduroam” network whenever it is available.
✅You can now check your settings and wait a few seconds. Your phone should automatically connect to the eduroam network.
❌If this does not happen, please go through all the steps again, as it is possible that a small mistake was made when entering your details.
❌If you are still unable to connect to the “eduroam” network, please visit our HelpDesk in room B0-29. You can find the opening hours here: https://www.hochschule-bochum.de/cit/helpdesk/support/
🍀Everything working and connected to the “eduroam” network? Then we hope you enjoy surfing and working with “eduroam”!
