Apple Mail (iOS)
ℹ️Instructions for setting up the student university email address on iOS / iPhone.
1. Open Settings
➡️Open the Settings and go to Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts (on older iOS versions: Mail → Accounts).
☑️Tap on Add Account.
2. Enter HSBO-Email address and choose 'Add Other Account' → Mail Account
3. Enter account details
You have to enter:
• Name: desired display name
• Email: your HSBO email address
• Password: password of your HSBO account
• Description: desired label
➡️Then tap Next.
4. Configure server (IMAP)
‼️Make sure IMAP is selected at the top and enter the incoming and outgoing mail server details as shown:
• Host Name: mail.stud.hs-bochum.de
Also enter your details:
• Username: Your HSBO username
• Password: Password of your HSBO account
➡️Then tap Next and wait. The account will be checked and set up → Save. You should now be able to view your incoming emails.
5. Test Sending Emails
ℹ️ Check whether sent emails are actually being delivered, for example by sending an email to your personal email address. If this does not work, follow the steps below:
Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Select the HSBO account you have just set up → Account Settings → Outgoing Mail Server → Select Primary Server
6. Enter data correctly
➡️Enter the server configuration as shown below.
✅Email sending should also work correctly now.
